Building Community Through Adventure

Become a more effective community builder. This two day workshop will explore how adventure-based activities can be used to create healthy and effective communities. A group that develops as a community is more supportive, trusting, caring, and productive. Building community with groups requires time, a desire to create a positive environment, and a commitment to helping group members make meaningful connections with each other and with their shared purpose. This workshop will explore how groups form, grow, and evolve into effective communities.

During this highly interactive workshop you will participate in a series of action-based, low prop, community building activities you can immediately implement in your setting. You will also learn new processing and reflection activities that can help your group members connect learning from the activities to their community. This workshop will also provide you with a greater understanding of how to utilize group and community development theory, along with adventure activities to develop effective communities in your setting.

Building Community Through Adventure is ideal for educators, youth workers, administrators, or anyone looking to build or enhance community with their groups. This workshop can complement current character development programs.
