Our Way of Saying, 'Thanks!'
Our annual ropes course leadership symposium is our way of thanking clients who have made use of our array of Challenge Course and Climbing Program Services over the past year. The symposium creates an opportunity for challenge course managers and senior staff to network with other outdoor professionals, review new standards, and explore emerging trends in adventure programming.
Scheduled just ahead of the busy spring/summer season, we work hard to provide a one-day workshop that will help you to deliver safe and effective adventure programs to all your clients groups. The content of our symposium varies each year but generally includes the following themes:
- Making the most of your Annual Inspection & Service Visit: Operating a safe and effective ropes course or climbing wall program starts with an annual professional inspection of your facilities and equipment. Being prepared for our visit and the follow-up will reduce costs and ensure you are ready for your first client group of the season.
- Activity-Fest: Playing some of our favourite new activities and variations is easier than learning them out of a book. These new ideas will keep your program fresh.
- Standards Updates: A number of professional organizations set standards concerning the operation of ropes courses and climbing walls. Because different organizations serve different interests, there are often multiple standards for the same activity. New equipment, innovative techniques, and emerging information about accidents will cause the rules that apply to adventure programs to change over time.
- Challenge Course Tour: Whether an in-person visit or a virtual experience, you’ll have an opportunity to see many of our newly installed activities.
- Guest Speakers: We invite a wide range of experts to share their insights with you. Previous speakers have covered topics such as medical screening, risk management, judgement and decision-making, insurance, regulations, and more.
Our symposium agenda is usually posted on our web-site by early February. There is no cost for attending our symposium. Lunch is included.
